Congress to Quiz Brown

The man who headed during Hurricane Katrina will be quizzed today by a House panel exploring the government’s response to the crisis.

Michael Brown resigned three days after Homeland Security Secretary Michael Chertoff pulled him out of New Orleans. He’s now advising the agency in a two-week “transition” period and getting full pay.

Brown says he should have sought help more quickly from the Pentagon after Katrina hit. But he also blames in-fighting by state and local officials. He describes Louisiana Governor Kathleen Blanco as “indecisive.”
